The Environmental Consequences section of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) analyzes and identifies the environmental impacts of the alternatives being examined, including the proposed action. This section identifies the adverse environmental effects that cannot be avoided, the relationship between short-term uses of man's environment and the maintenance and enhancement of long-term productivity, and any irreversible or irretrievable commitments of resources should the proposal be implemented. A number of impact categories must be examined to determine if any adverse impacts would occur. FAA Order 5050.4A, Airport Environmental Handbook, identifies 20 specific impact categories, as well as others that may need to be examined depending on the project.
The Tier 1 EIS examined 24 environmental impact categories, which the Tier 2 EIS will also analyze in respect to the proposed Inaugural Airport Program. These categories are listed below. By clicking on a category you will be sent to that category's definition in the environmental glossary.
